Marylake Day of Amnesty and Forgiveness

The Augustinians have been at Marylake for 75 years. Their history and tradition is long and true. During those years, the Monastery, Shrine, Retreat House Convent and Barn have been home to items and artifacts that were valuable, historic, traditional, sentimental and sacred. They have also come from all over the world.

Over time, items have gone missing. Items have been stolen, items have been wrongly gifted without proper authority, items have been borrowed and never returned. As recently as this past Christmas, 4 pieces were stolen from our newly donated Nativity Set. The Augustinians here at Marylake would like to have them back. Ash Wednesday, February 14, 2018 has been declared as a Day of Amnesty and Forgiveness. It will be a day when anyone who has taken anything from Marylake, anyone who has been gifted anything that they feel guilty about taking or anyone who has borrowed an item that they neglected to return it, can return the items to Marylake without any questions asked. All you have to do, is drop it off at the Marylake offices or if you wish, drop it off in the side vestibule of the Shrine. Again, no questions will be asked and all will be forgiven. A second day for the return of any Marylake property will be Good Friday, March 30, 2018. Of course if these days are inconvenient, we are open every day.

In recent history we have recovered one of our original Tabernacles off a website, someone returned a relic of St. Rita that they have always felt uncomfortable receiving as a gift and books have been returned that were missing from our various libraries.

Please help to bring home what rightfully belongs to the Augustinians... to Marylake. God Bless.
